Personal Coaching

The actor's body, voice, personality, rhythm are all part of the actors' instrument. There is a way your instruments resonate in the world, on the stage, and on the screen that is unique to only you. Private coaching is all about marrying your instrument to the role, allowing the actor to use parts of themselves in service of the role and leaving the rest. Testimonials

“Simone Moore offers encouragement, honest feedback, and excellent insight as to the ways others see you, ways you may not even be aware of.  Simone honed right in on the kind of characters I needed to play for my MFA showcase.  She suggested an excellent scene for me and a classmate that fit us like a glove.  When I was having trouble nailing down a wardrobe, Simone went shopping with me and suggested I try on a dress that I never would have gone for.  Let me just say, the dress works.  To this day, people stop me on the street to compliment me every time I wear it.  She reminds me to view those aspects of myself that I first saw as problems or detriments as the unique and fabulous traits that they are.

I also regularly call Simone when I need help with scenes and auditions.  Simone has a way of really boiling down the scene to truthful moments and helping me break out of my natural patterns.  These interruptions to my natural rhythm always help to open up my work and help me make discoveries.”

“Simone has generously volunteered her help to me in several ways over the years. We are fellow alumni of the UCSD MFA program. She was thoughtful enough to periodically check in with me after graduation about how my acting career was going. She went over my industry response after my actor showcase and helped me think through which agency to go with. She has coached me on the business aspect of acting one on one and on auditions over the phone. She walked me through how to submit my picture and resume effectively, guided me on a cover letter and encouraged me in being proactive about getting my face out there. Her help is always practical, motivating, and catered to my personal goals.

Most notably, Simone worked with me on my audition "look". She took me to various makeup counters and instructed the makeup artists on the results she was looking for until we landed on one that fit. Now I am able to walk into auditions feeling confident about how I present myself visually which gives me the freedom to focus on my acting. I've just been cast in my first co-star spot on "Numbers" and have been called in to several auditions and commercial agent meetings from my mailings.

Simone was an unexpected blessing and I am so grateful for her generous time, energy, and expertise.”

“Simone has a great eye for for what cuts/colors look best for your specific look.  She has advised me countless times on clothes for headshot shoots, as well as on choosing the pictures themselves. As far as auditioning, she has an eye for finding places where you can be more in touch with your body, and more passionate about the specifics of the monologue you're auditioning with, or the role you're playing. She pushes you to take your own ideas further within the piece so they stand out more. When talking with her about characters I always emerge with a greater appreciation and passion for the specific struggle or pain the character is going through and become more attuned to exploring that.”

“Simone is absolutely amazing!!!! She has a vision, sees your potential and the direction you need to go, and gives you the tools to be successful in this industry. I, personally, was a little clueless. Well, not as much clueless as a hippy- Bohemian. I had no idea how to market my beauty--I thought talent was enough; and as a hippy-Bohemian, I, preferred not to wear makeup or bras, I liked ripped jeans and tanks and never went to get my hair done...I'd do it myself. Simone changed all that with one quick reality check. She asked me about my goals and then asked me to pick specific actresses who's career I wanted to shadow. Then we looked at these actresses; their look; their acting style, what made them special. As I looked at them, I saw that none of them marketed themselves in a hippy-Bohemian way; like me...they were authentic, but they wore makeup, had their hair done, and definitely wore bras!!!

Simone let me see that I could allow my free spirit personality to shine through in my style and individuality, while still maintaining some of the industry's standards of beauty.

While I was in NYC doing my showcase she talked me through my wardrobe over the phone, picking pieces that accented my dancer-like body-type and colors that were great for my complexion. Simone gave me some wonderful scene-selections for my showcase, helped me pick my current headshots, and coached me for them when I came out to LA. Simone also went makeup shopping with me and helped me pick a natural, yet accentuating look.

With the mixture of my talent and Simone's loving guidance and knowledge, I had a great response from my showcase. She helped me pick my wardrobe for my interviews with managers, casting directors, and agents. I had no idea how to prepare or what to say or do; but she gave me all the advice I could of possibly needed and I felt extremely confidant and prepared walking into all of their offices. At this time, I am represented by Artists' Entertainment commercially and Independent Artists theatrically.

I've booked two national commercials: a Verizon and Chase bank one; and co-starred in the premiere episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, since I graduated a little less than a year ago. Oh, and Simone coached me via phone on the Law & Order---just so you know HOW good she really is at what she does! I love this woman! She's the most insightful, honest, and giving person I've met in the business--and believe me you're going to love her and all you accomplish with her too!”
